The RBYC Review of the Year

Join us as we look back on another spectacular year of sailing with the RBYC!

We've sailed the Solent, ventured north to Scotland, headed east to Poland and crossed the channel to Alderney - proving once again that RBYC members are always ready for a new adventure.

Closer to home, we've tested our sailing skills, perfected our sail trim and practised that most essential of sailing techniques - parking the boat without anybody noticing how many attempts it took.

Come along and help us celebrate another brilliant year on the water with the RBYC.

Open to club members and visitors. Free.

26-10 Buoy Hunt (Deposit)

The annual close of the year - the hotly contested annual buoy hunt. Something between orienteering by boat, chess and a game show, sail to as many buoys as you can in the time set aside to score points - with prize giving over dinner and the opportunity to be the winning boat. Last year we had four boats out - lets see if we can make it five this year!

The cost of the charter per person is expected to be around £250 per person, based on a crew of four and a club skipper.

An initial non-refundable deposit of £100.00 is required to secure your place on this trip.

To register for any event, you will need to be a Member or Introductory Member. To register for Introductory Membership click here.

Please Note:

A refundable security deposit of £3000.00 per yacht, payable at handover, will be required to cover any damage expenses.

This is shared equally between all the crew, and will be returned to you after the event has successfully completed, less any costs incurred.

Costs for any damage will be shared equally by ALL crew, no matter by whom, or how the said damage was incurred.

Members who have already paid a deposit should sign up to this event to pay their balance.

The full price for the weekend is £250 so a balance of £150 will be requested when you register using the registration code you will be sent by email.

RYA Sea Survival Course (24 Jan 2027)

A one-day course for anyone going to sea, providing an understanding of how to use the safety equipment on board your boat.

A genuine lifesaver

Cruising is one of the safest leisure sporting activities, and 99.9% of those afloat will never use their liferaft. However, if you are part of the unlucky 0.1% your chances of survival will be greatly increased if you understand how to use the equipment and how to help yourself.

It is a well-proven fact that, in the event of an emergency at sea, people with training are more likely to survive.

An important part of the course is a practical session in a swimming pool. Experience first hand the problems of entering an uncooperative liferaft and assisting others while fully kitted out in wet weather gear and a lifejacket.

Course topics include:

liferafts and the equipment they contain
survival techniques
the design of lifejackets
medical aspects of sea survival
search and rescue techniques

The RYA Basic Sea Survival Course Completion certificate is awarded on satisfactory completion of the course.
You will need old clothing like a tracksuit etc (not jeans) to wear in the water, and a towel. You may bring your own waterproofs and footwear, but these must be clean.
If you have your own lifejacket then this might be a good time to test it. Re-arming kits can be purchased in the Andark shop or other chandleries.
The course is classroom and pool based requiring a degree physical ability, please contact us with any questions. We have our own swimming pool on site.
